The extrication spinal fixation device comprises a wrapper with fixation straps, removable floating inset and life-jacket for a rescue-man. The set is supplied in a carrying bag.

The wrapper is made from a very strong coated fabric. Vertical reinforcing lamellas are sewn in the wrapper inside.

There is a fastening system consisting of very strong textile straps and fasteners (Velcro and clasps) on the wrapper outside.
The system comprises:
- Two straps complete with Velcro fasteners for head fixation
- Three straps of various colours with clasps (tridents) for body trunk fixation in the pectoral and abdominal areas
- Two hip straps with clasps for fixation in the hip area for transport of the injured person in vertical position.
The shape of the removable floating inset is identical with that of the wrapper. The inner part of the inset is made from microporous material. The inset is attached to the wrapper by means of Velcro fasteners.
Instructions for use:
Take the extrication spinal fixation (hereinafter referred to as only "fixation") out of the carrying bag and check it for completeness and capability to operate (only fully functional fixation can be used).
- If the fixation is to be used in water place the floating inset on the internal surface of the fixation and secure with the Velcro fasteners.
- Place the fixation under the patient´s back and head, adapt it to the body and wrap it around the head and trunk.
- Fix the head with the aid of the forehead and chin bands (using rubber bands). Fix the body trunk by means of three adjustable straps. Put on the hip straps. The adjusted length of all straps must ensure that the fixation envelops the body tightly.
- Check if all straps are placed correctly and fastened tightly.
- Start extrication proper of the fixed person employing all grips provided on the fixation.
- After the fixation, loosen all straps and pull out the fixation carefully from underneath the patient´s body.
- After use, wash, disinfect, dry and inspect the fixation for any damage; if undamaged, place the fixation back into the carrying bag so that it is ready for future use. If the fixation is damaged have it repaired by a professional.
The manufacturer recommends to use the product in combination with a suitable neck fixation collar, which is not a part of the EFS-101 extrication spinal fixation.
Warning: High-altitude transport of an injured person fixed in an EFS-101 may only be performed using a suitable rescue seat.
Maintenance and storage:
